Brighton told to agree £50m Marc Cucurella deal after Man City update – pundit

Brighton should hold out for as much as they can with Man City reportedly looking to sign Marc Cucurella.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the defender’s possible transfer.

On 17 May, the Daily Mail reported Man City will make a £30million move to sign Cucurella, 23, this summer.

The left-back scored his first Premier League goal as Brighton beat Man United 4-0 on 7 May.

The Spaniard has been a standout player for the Seagulls this season and was crowned the club’s player of the season on 9 May.

Kenny has hailed Brighton’s recruitment team as Man City look to steal one of their star players.

“Once again the credit has to go to the Brighton recruitment team,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“If you are signing a player who City want 12 months later, you are doing something seriously impressive.

“But, this is Man City. £30million? Surely you have to be holding out for more than that.

“He’s only just signed for them so there are years left on his deal. You have to be looking closer to maybe £50million if you are Brighton.

“They would be losing a key player. They have to look after themselves and they are under no pressure to sell.”

Cucurella is a graduate from Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy.

He has made 34 Premier League appearances this season.

In other news, one pundit claims Man City are victims of ‘corrupt’ UEFA after a ‘very strange’ development.
