‘Brighton well-placed to agree £40m Harvey Elliott deal with Liverpool’
Brighton are working on a deal to sign Liverpool star Harvey Elliott who is expected to be priced at around £40million this summer.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 22-year-old has no shortage of suitors, but the Seagulls are well-placed.
Elliott’s impressive displays have continued since the season’s close, and he scored both of England Under-21s’ goals in their Euros semi-final win against the Netherlands.
Brown told Football Insider in April that Liverpool will not block Elliott’s exit but will demand a “huge” fee as they aim to make maximum profit from his sale.
Despite that, Brighton are not expected to be put off by the asking price as they plan to part ways with the likes of Joao Pedro and already have room to spend.
This comes after Brown previously told Football Insider that Elliott is unhappy with his role at Liverpool and is keen to play regular first-team football elsewhere.

Brighton ‘front-runners’ in race to sign Harvey Elliott
Brown told Football Insider in April that Premier League clubs are racing to sign Elliott as multiple clubs have been put on alert by his potential availability.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Brighton are the front-runners for the midfielder’s signature as things stand.
“Harvey Elliott is a very good player of his type,” he told Football Insider.
“Wherever he goes, they’ve got to decide whether they want to use him as a creative midfielder or out wide on the right coming inside.
“He plays in the hole, likes to get on the ball, can be creative, pass the ball and score goals.
“There’s no doubt he would be an asset to a Premier League team, and there are a few interested.
“Brighton have some good talent in their team, but they want to add to it.
“Some players there are still developing, but they’re at risk of losing others and they’re on the bridge of which direction they’re going to head in.
“They want to bring in talent like Elliott to ensure they don’t start to slip backwards.
“But they have money to spend and will have even more if they’re going to sell the likes of Joao Pedro, so whatever the asking price is, it won’t be a problem.
“I’ve heard it would take around £40million, and I think Brighton will be okay with paying that fee.”

Bayern Munich and Arsenal race to sign Kaoru Mitoma
Pedro is not the only Brighton player being linked with a move away from the Amex this summer, as speculation has emerged surrounding Kaoru Mitoma.
Brown told Football Insider on 22 June that Bayern Munich want to sign Mitoma and are prepared to rival the likes of Arsenal for his signature.
Vincent Kompany’s side are confident they could convince him to make the move to Munich and believe they would have the edge over Mikel Arteta’s team.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider in May that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Mitoma’s situation and could make a move if he is allowed to leave Brighton.
