‘Brilliant business’ – Dundee United fans thrilled by ‘deal of the decade’ after Moller agreement reached
Dundee United confirmed the departure of Nikolaj Moller on Thursday after he agreed a move to Sandefjord.
The 23-year-old striker had joined the Tangerines in the summer, but it quickly became clear that the transfer was not going to work out.
Across 19 Scottish Premiership appearances, he failed to score once, with his only goal coming against Ayr United in the Scottish Cup.
Now, despite the side creeping closer to the relegation zone, the club have decided to part ways with Moller.

All the best, Nikolaj 🧡
Dundee United fans cannot believe how much they have received for Nikolaj Moller
According to the Daily Record on 12 February, Dundee United have received £700,000 for Moller.
This is despite his lack of output up top as well as the fact that the Tangerines had only signed him on a free in the summer.
On top of this, additional add-ons have been agreed, with Jim Goodwin’s side bringing in a significant chunk of money.
As a result, many of the Tannadice Park faithful are simply amazed at how much they managed to bring in and were quick to praise the club for their negotiating skills.
Fantastic piece of business

Cannot stop smiling, the man was genuinely worse than Jort and didn’t even have a good song.

However, other fans were also concerned about how light Dundee United were up top, with the Tangerines still not safe from relegation.
Good money yes. But not we’re going to be very light up front striker wise

So the balance now moves to young Owen to prove himself. Good luck to moller, never worked out here for him.

Where did it go wrong for Moller at Dundee United?
Unfortunately, despite possessing good hold-up play, scoring goals is what every striker needs to do.
According to Fotmob on 13 February, not only was Moller struggling to score, but he rarely even got a shot away when he was on the field in the Scottish Premiership.
Per 90 minutes, he was only averaging 2.29 shots, a 0.16 xG and 0.69 shots on target.
While he did possess other important qualities, creating 0.23 big chances and producing 0.23 assists per match, it was simply not enough when he was finding the back of the net as well.
| Nikolaj Moller’s Scottish Premiership stats | Per 90 minutes |
| Goals | 0.00 |
| Assists | 0.23 |
| Shots | 2.29 |
| Shots on target | 0.69 |
| xG | 0.16 |
| Big chances created | 0.23 |
Now, the challenge for Dundee United will be replacing Moller in the summer with a striker who will be able to find the net on a consistent basis in the Scottish Premiership.
If not, their stay back in the top-flight may be short-lived once again as they look to cement their status as one of the top clubs in Scotland.
