Bruno Fernandes has given Aston Villa target his stamp of approval, he’s already filled Cristiano Ronaldo’s shoes

Unai Emery would do well to listen to Man United’s captain as Aston Villa look to sign reinforcements during the winter transfer window.

Football Insider understands that Villa officials have jetted out to complete a deal for Tammy Abraham, despite already agreeing terms for Alysson Edward and Brian Madjo this month.

Emery has already allowed Donyell Malen to leave, with Ollie Watkins and Evann Guessand both linked with exits, all while the Villans are battling for the Premier League title.

Arsenal remain favourites to lift the trophy come the end of May, but with Emery’s side just seven points behind, the right transfers could be the difference between first and second place this season.

Aston Villa target PSG star Goncalo Ramos

And according to trusted journalist Duncan Castles (22 January), Villa and Crystal Palace are targeting a move for PSG star Goncalo Ramos, who currently has 11 goals in 33 appearances.

While the Ligue 1 giants are in no rush to sell the 24-year-old, he is struggling for regular minutes at the Parc de Princes, so it would not be a surprise to see him move away this month.

Although he never worked with Emery, his links to PSG could help make a deal happen before the transfer window closes, even if only on a loan deal until the end of the season.

It remains to be seen how hard the Premier League club are going to push for his signature, but based on what Bruno Fernandes has said about him previously, it seems like a no-brainer decision.

Bruno Fernandes confident in PSG attacker as Cristiano Ronaldo replacement

On the international stage, the Man United star has had the pleasure of playing alongside Ramos, and his praise for the 24-year-old really could not get much better than this.

Speaking back in 2023 [ESPN], Fernandes said: “Cristiano (Ronaldo), inside the box, continues to be a very high-level player. He draws defenders and creates space for other players.

“If Cristiano doesn’t play and Goncalo (Ramos) does, Goncalo is strong in pressing and good at diagonal runs.”

Emery absolutely loves forwards who can press, adding a new dimension of defence to the team, and that is exactly what Ramos will bring if Villa can sign him ahead of Palace, or any other club, for that matter.
