Man United step up Bryan Mbeumo pursuit amid Mount uncertainty
If Mount does depart, the club will hope to recoup funds to strengthen the squad, as he appears to have slipped down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim with one potential incoming is Bryan Mbeumo.
Football Insider revealed that Man United are pushing hard to secure a deal for Mbeumo, despite seeing an initial bid rejected.
There are concerns Tottenham could look to hijack the deal for Mbeumo, but reports suggest Mbeumo has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford.
Should the Cameroonian arrive, he’s expected to play behind the striker alongside Cunha — which could further limit opportunities for Mount, or signal his exit altogether.
Whether someone will be willing to fork out for Mount, however, remains to be seen.
Having failed to hit the heights since moving to Old Trafford he’s almost certain to have since his £55m valuation drop.
A good season under Amorim next term will hopefully see him return to his best.
