Bruno Fernandes reacts to ‘new home’ announcement from Man United

Bruno Fernandes reacted to a message on social media from Man United in regards to a “new home”.

Very few of the Red Devils’ playing staff weathered last season without their reputation tarnished in some form or another, but the club’s captain was one of them.

The midfielder scored 19 goals and assisted 18 in an astonishing individual season for the 30-year-old, leading to interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal in Fernandes.

But despite the offer of unfathomable riches, the former Sporting CP star turned down the offer, choosing to remain at Old Trafford.

Knowing that they likely have just a few seasons left of Fernandes’ brilliance, United have been aggressive in the transfer market, signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves and making an offer for Bryan Mbeumo in a bid to build around their world-class midfield maestro.

Man United show Diego Leon his ‘new home’

However, not all of the club’s transfer moves are being done with the present in mind, after United confirmed the signing of Diego Leon on Instagram, with a post captioned: “Showing Diego around his new home”.

The 18-year-old left-back has joined from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno and has just 35 senior appearances to his name.

Showing support for his new teammate, Fernandes liked the post.

Man United may sign another left wing-back

Football Insider Verdict

Despite the addition of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce in January, and Leon this summer, United may still choose to enter the market for another left wing-back.

The Paraguayan and the Red Devils’ other alternative at the position, Harry Amass, are both far too young to be regulars in the Premier League just yet.

One or both of them are likely to go out on loan this summer, leaving Amorim with just two players capable of playing at the position.

With Dorgu himself only 20 years old, United may look to sign Pervis Estupinan from Brighton, or another experienced player.

However, with so many areas in need of addressing this summer, the Red Devils are unlikely to splash out on a top player at the position and will likely favour a more affordable option.
