‘Bruno Fernandes set for exit after Bryan Mbeumo to Man United update’

Bruno Fernandes looks another step closer to ending the Man United chapter of his career following the most recent Bryan Mbeumo update.

Ruben Amorim had a number of exciting attacking talents at his disposal during 2024/25, with the new signing of Matheus Cunha joining the likes of Amad Diallo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Chido Obi-Martin.

However, Garnacho is unlikely to be a Man United player next season, Football Insider understands, in the wake of his ugly clash with the manager over his comments after the Europa League final.

While Fernandes is a much-loved figure at Old Trafford, by both the club and the supporters, his future remains just as uncertain amid serious transfer interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Bryan Mbeumo to replace Bruno Fernandes at Man United

Ex-scout for the Red Devils, Mick Brown, told Football Insider that Man United could accept offers between £80million and £100million for Fernandes this summer.

While the manager has reiterated multiple times to the press that the star midfielder, who notched 19 goals and 18 assists in 57 games this season, is not for sale, one player is likely expecting the opposite.

According to David Ornstein (2 May), Brentford star Mbeumo has decided he wants to join United this summer, with the club expected to open talks with the Bees, snubbing moves to Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham.

Given his role at the Gtech Community Stadium, recording 20 goals and seven assists in the league this season, the 25-year-old will want to remain a top source of goals next season.

Man United’s biggest star likely to move on after bombshell transfer news

The Red Devils appears to be clearly preparing for an immense blow to their attacking options in the coming weeks, hence the ambition and desire to bring the Brentford star to Old Trafford this season.

Mbeumo is likely to have only chosen United due to Fernandes’ impending exit, rather than having to battle for a spot in the final third under Mikel Arteta or Eddie Howe for the 2025/26 campaign, given there is little else from the campaign-just-gone to make Manchester more attractive than North London on Newcastle.

Bukayo Saka, Anthony Gordon, and Harvey Barnes are all incredible talents, but with nobody yet holding down the right-wing position for Amorim, the 25-year-old will have spotted a chance to make a name for himself.

Bringing a play-making winger to the club could also signify a huge change in playing style, which Amorim has been trying to enforce since his arrival, blunting Fernandes’ impact on the team.

Funds will need to be made available, given Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s cost-cutting actions at Old Trafford, and the signing of Mbeumo could finally mean the end of Fernandes’ time in the Premier League.

The 30-year-old has always been the clutch, go-to player for United over the last five years, but with Saudi Arabia calling louder than ever, it might finally be time for him to say his goodbyes.

His exit could fund the Mbeumo and Cunha deals, and with both Premier League stars opting for United it certainly suggests they anticipate a big space in the squad they can fill.
