Bruno Fernandes should not play for Man United again – ‘he could be gone,’ says pundit
Frank McAvennie has claimed Bruno Fernandes should never play for Man United again.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Fernandes “could be gone” in the summer as a result of his behaviour against Liverpool last weekend.
The 28-year-old has been heavily criticised for his behaviour in United’s 7-0 thrashing by Liverpool last weekend (5 March).
As quoted by the Daily Express (7 March), Sky Sports commentator and ex-United man Gary Neville said Fernandes seemed to be asking to be subbed off when Marcus Rashford was replaced instead of himself.
Footage has emerged on Twitter (6 March), of the midfielder giving up on trying to prevent a Liverpool attack after failing to tackle Stefan Bajcetic.
The Portugal international was given the armband for the Europa League game against Real Betis on Thursday (9 March) and put in an impressive performance for the Red Devils.
But McAvennie claimed Fernandes should be out the door.
“For me, anyone that asks to get taken off would not play for my jersey again,” he told Football Insider.
“That is just the way I feel. Whether the manager is not saying anything because he needs him in the team at the moment but come the summer he could be gone.

“He is a good player but he was like a petulant little kid. Flinging his arms up, blaming everyone but himself. He went down for a foul any time someone touched him and a couple of goals came from that.
“I think he is a good player but just would not be for me. In that dressing room there would be a few inquests, the boys that I played with would not have that.“
