Bruno Guimaraes sends ‘let me go’ message amid Newcastle United transfer mayhem

Bruno Guimaraes took to social media with a new message as Newcastle United enter a hectic period of the summer transfer window.

The Brazilian had been previously linked with a move away from St James’ Park, given his incredible talents in the middle of the park, but it looks as though Champions League football is enough to keep him.

Football Insider reported in May that Newcastle had increased confidence of Alexander Isak signing a new deal with the club, but a spanner appears to have been thrown into those plans.

Liverpool have offered a record £130million for the star striker, Football Insider understands, but if that is not possible for Arne Slot’s side, they are also interested in Hugo Ekitike, also of interest to the Magpies.

Eddie Howe‘s side have been left in limbo as the reigning Premier League champions attempt to add the Sweden international to their ranks, and now Guimaraes has shared a new update.

Bruno Guimaraes takes dig at Newcastle youngster Joe White

Taking to Instagram stories (16 July), Guimaraes shared an image of himself up against youngster Joe White, with the caption: “Let me go, Joe White,” with two laughing emojis.

Clearly up against the 22-year-old midfielder in training, the Brazilian shared a follow-up image, with the cheeky caption: “Thanks, bro,” as he skipped away from White.

Magpies concerns over summer transfer window

Football Insider verdict

Losing Isak to the Reds would be an incredibly shocking blow for the Magpies, especially after securing Champions League football last season via a top-five Premier League finish.

Howe is clearly in the process of building an exciting project at St James’ Park, having broken the club’s 70-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium last season.

Anthony Elanga has already joined on a £55million deal from Nottingham Forest [BBC Sport], only proving the ambition and expectation that the Newcastle owners hold under Howe’s reign.

If the Magpies are to lose Isak this summer, with the striker’s contract situation making matters so much more complicated, Ektike is a must-buy to replace the sensational forward.

Boasting 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 appearances last season, multiple clubs across Europe are interested in the Frenchman, and that will also be a concern for Howe’s side.

Of course, fans can hold onto the likelihood of Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon, Tino Livramento, and Harvey Barnes, but Isak’s situation has left the club in limbo ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
