Bryan Mbeumo sends ‘tough’ Brentford message amid Arsenal transfer whispers
Bryan Mbeumo took to social media with a “tough” admission as Brentford were held to a 0-0 stalemate by Chelsea.
Thomas Frank’s side were unable to get back to winning ways following their 2-1 defeat against Newcastle United on the road, having welcomed the Blues to the Gtech Community Stadium on 6 April.
Mbeumo, who Football Insider understands to be of interest to Arsenal, was not at his transformative best for the Bees however, with neither side able to break the deadlock in a frustrating goalless draw.
The draw leaves Brentford three points off the top half of the Premier League table, with upcoming clashes against Arsenal, Brighton and Nottingham Forest, and it could get even harder from here.
Bryan Mbeumo lacks impact as Brentford draw against Chelsea
Taking to Instagram [6 April], Mbeumo wrote: “Tough game today, but we still get a good point,” with Rico Henry, Neal Maupay and Christian Norgaard liking the post.
Kevin Schade, who has experienced his best season in Brentford colours, also liked the post, with plenty of fans showing the winger support despite the frustrating home result.
Thomas Frank continues to earn rave reviews at the Gtech Community Stadium
Football Insider verdict
While the players will be disappointed, a draw and clean sheet against Enzo Maresca’s side is nothing to be looked down upon, especially with Cole Palmer looking back to his best at Chelsea.
Frank has been heavily linked with replacing Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, and given how far the Bees have come under his guidance and leadership, it is certainly no surprise.
Premier League standings | Points |
10. Bournemouth | 45 |
11. Crystal Palace | 43 |
12. Brentford | 42 |
13. Man United | 38 |
Should the owners at the Gtech Community Stadium be able to keep the manager, Mbeumo, and several other stars this summer, there is no reason why the club cannot aim higher in the Premier League.
Yoanne Wissa is another star helping the London side to slowly climb the table, but until their rocky form can be stabilised, it could be another mid-table finish for the Bees next season.
Frank, of course, will have bigger ambitions than just finishing in the top half of the table, and if Daniel Levy can persuade him that is possible, he could be the one to replace Postecoglou this summer.
