Burnley Exclusive: Major update on potential Vincent Kompany sack – sources
Vincent Kompany is set to stay at Burnley even if the club are relegated from the Premier League, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that the club’s board are disappointed with how their return to the top flight has panned out under the Man City legend, but he has enough credit in the bank to be kept on.
The board are confident that Kompany can lead Burnley straight back to the Premier League after his impressive 101-point haul as Championship winners last season.
The Clarets, who currently have just 13 points, are 11 points away from 17th-place Nottingham Forest and have the second-worst defensive record in the league.

However, chiefs are adamant that he is the right man to return them to the Premier League should they be relegated.
They look well-set for relegation along with Sheffield United this season and have failed to win three points since their 2-0 away win against Fulham in late December.
The Lancashire side spent very heavily in the summer in their bid to remain in the top flight and reportedly paid out over £90million in transfer fees.
Kompany moved to Burnley in the summer of 2022 after they were relegated following a successful stint at Belgian side Anderlecht.

Burnley sit 19th in the Premier League table following their 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon (24 February).
They are next in action against Bournemouth at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon (3 March).
