Burnley are lining up an offer to sign Hull City left-back Ryan Giles before the window closes, sources have told Football Insider.

Nicky Hayen's side are preparing an offer which would see the 26-year-old join on loan for the rest of the season, with the option to make his arrival permanent next summer.

The defender has been a key part of Sergej Jakirovic's plans at the MKM Stadium as he made 37 appearances and played a big role in their promotion campaign last time out.

Giles also started in Hull's opening game of the Premier League season as they beat Man United 2-0, and he remains a big part of their plans.

As a result, it remains to be seen whether they would entertain offers for his services, but Burnley are confident they can reach an agreement with a formal offer lined up.

Giles' contract at Hull City is set to run until next summer as things stand, but the Tigers have the option to extend by a further year, and could be tempted to cash in.

Could Hull City allow Ryan Giles to join Burnley?

Football Insider revealed earlier this summer that Norwich City were considering a move to sign Giles, with Hull having not ruled out his departure this summer.

That stance has now placed Burnley on alert, with the Clarets lining up a late offer to tempt him back into the Championship, at least for the rest of the new season.

Burnley have their sights set on promotion back to the Premier League, and are putting plans in place to bolster their squad and give themselves the best chance.

Following the departure of Quilindschy Hartman last month, the Clarets have been scouring the market for new left-backs, and Giles is now said to be high on their list.

Giles would be a surprise departure from Hull given the prominent role he has played under Jakirovic, but following Matt Targett's arrival earlier this summer, he could be allowed to move on.

Burnley brace for busy end to the transfer window

Burnley are preparing for a busy end to the summer transfer window, with a number of deals expected both with regard to incoming and outgoing players at Turf Moor.

The potential addition of Giles will come alongside other targets as Hayen looks to bolster his squad, but they are also at risk of losing star players.

Football Insider revealed on 28 August that Zian Flemming is keen to leave Burnley this summer given the level of interest in his signature from clubs across Europe.

A number of top-flight clubs in England, France, the Netherlands and Italy are keeping a close eye on his situation and could look to lure him away at this late stage.

This comes after sources reveled that Ligue 1 outfit Lille are preparing a second bid to sign the striker, after Burnley turned down their first approach.
