Burnley striker Zian Flemming is keen to take the chance to move to a higher league amid interest from Lille, sources have told Football Insider.

The French side have already seen one bid for the Dutchman rejected, but they are not ready to give up on their pursuit.

The 28-year-old is understood to be keen to make the move to Ligue 1 happen, in order to continue to test himself at the highest possible level.

Football Insider revealed on Thursday that Lille are preparing a second offer for Flemming, and are growing increasingly confident that they can get the deal over the line.

Bruno Genesio's side are understood to be getting ever closer to matching Burnley's asking price for their star man.

Flemming has been linked with Premier League moves to the likes of Everton and Leeds this summer, but it is Lille who are now in the box seat to secure his signature.

Burnley preparing to live without Zian Flemming

Flemming has been an influential figure for Burnley in recent seasons, and he starred in their relegation campaign in the Premier League last term.

The former Millwall man ended the 2025-26 campaign as the Clarets' leading goalscorer with 11 league strikes to his name, and that form has garnered him plenty of attention this summer.

The prospect of a return to the Premier League appeared to be on the cards earlier in the transfer window, but it is now Lille who have come to the fore.

Burnley are now growing increasingly resigned to losing their star man as the French outfit ready another attempt to prise him away.

Flemming was left out of the matchday squad for last weekend's defeat to West Brom, while he was also only a late substitute in the midweek Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Bradford.

Boss Nicky Hayen has admitted that he would love to keep the striker beyond the 1 September deadline, but the chances of that are increasingly slim.

Brentford and Leeds set to be beaten to Flemming deal

Football Insider revealed at the start of August that Leeds and Brentford were both chasing a move for Flemming.

The Bees were particularly strong admirers of the Dutchman, but it is now increasingly likely that they are beaten to the deal.

Lille are in the ascendancy ahead of the upcoming deadline, and if they can meet Burnley's valuation then there is little standing in the way of a deal.

Flemming is already happy to make the move, and it is now down to the two clubs to reach an agreement.
