Lille are preparing a new offer to sign Burnley forward Zian Flemming in the closing stages of the window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Ligue 1 club have already seen an opening bid rejected by Burnley, but remain determiend to reach an agreement before the transfer deadline on 1 September.

Flemming, 28, has been a target for a number of clubs across Europe, including Premier League club Everton, this summer following Burnley's relegation from the top flight.

With Everton cooling their interest Lille have now placed themselves at the front of the queue for his signature and are confident of reaching an agreement as they edge closer to Burnley's asking price.

The striker scored 11 goals in 29 Premier League appearances last time out for the relegated side, and already has three in three this season, placing clubs on high alert.

Flemming's contract at Burnley is set to run until 2029, placing the club in a strong position to negotiate a fee, and they are so far standing firm in their demands.

Why are Lille interested in signing Zian Flemming?

Football Insider revealed on 26 August that Burnley have been expecting offers for Flemming in the closing stages of the transfer window, but could look to drive his fee up.

The striker's contract situation means he will not be allowed to leave on the cheap, with Burnley set to demand a significant fee.

Having already turned down an initial offer from Lille, the Ligue 1 side are expected to move closer to the Clarets' asking price when they return with a fresh bid.

Flemming has placed a number of clubs across Europe on alert with his recent performances, but Burnley boss Nicky Hayen has insisted he is keen for him to stay.

The deal will utlimately depend on the money on offer, with the striker not currently expected to force through a move despite the level of interest.

Which other clubs are interested in signing Flemming?

Lille are not alone in their pursuit of Flemming, and while their offer may have moved them to the front of the queue, they could face late pressure to get the deal done.

Premier League clubs including the likes of Everton and Ipswich have been keen on the forward, while European sides including those in the Eredivisie and Serie A are interested.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Leeds United and Brentford are among Flemming's admirers and could make offers before the window closes.

Leeds have been keen to add a new striker to their squad to play alongisde Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and having not had any success so far, could pivot their attention.

Brentford, meanwhile, have enjoyed a strong goalscoring start to the season but could further bolster their ranks with the Dutchman's signing.
