Butler-Oyedeji: Belgian clubs make moves to sign Arsenal star – sources

Arsenal forward Nathan Butler-Oyedeji is a loan target for Belgian clubs including Beerschot VA, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League giants have given the green light for the 21-year-old striker to be loaned out for the season and play regular first-team football.

Butler-Oyedeji spent the first half of last season on loan at Cheltenham, before returning to Arsenal’s Under-21s in January.

The 21-year-old scored six goals and provided two assists in 14 games for Arsenal’s U21s in the second half of last season to bring him onto the radar of the likes of Beerschot.

Butler-Oyedeji impressed in pre-season for Arsenal and has been training with Mikel Arteta’s first team this season.

The youngster has primarily been used as a striker throughout his short career but can be deployed on the left side when needed.

Butler-Oyedeji failed to score or provide a single assist in the 251 minutes he played across 13 appearances at Cheltenham last season.

He is yet to make a senior appearance for his boyhood club and may not be the only Hale End youth product to leave the club before the end of the transfer window.

Football Insider revealed (August 26) that Arsenal will not stand in the way of a last-gasp exit for winger Reiss Nelson.
