Callum Hudson-Odoi is about to complete ‘very good’ move to Fulham – Agbonlahor

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s proposed move to Fulham is a deal that is needed for the player’s stage of his career.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that a transfer for the winger makes sense for all parties involved.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (28 July) that Fulham are in the box seat to sign Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer.

It is believed the Blues are keen to move the 22-year-old on in the final month of the window, and Hudson-Odoi is also open to finding a new club for the 2023-24 campaign after a stagnation in his once-promising career.

Hudson-Odoi spent the 2022-23 campaign out on loan at Bayer Leverkusen – his first spell away from Chelsea, however, the winger struggled to make an impact for Xabi Alonso’s side – notching just one goal and one assist in 21 appearances in all competitions.

With a potential transfer to Fulham on the cards, Agbonlahor believes that a move to Craven Cottage could reignite Hudson-Odoi’s career, while a move woud also make sense for Chelsea.

“It’s not worked at Chelsea,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s also not looked himself when going out on loan.

“There is a talented player in there , but if you don’t knuckle down then your value can drop, so I think it’s time for Chelsea to to let him go.

“Hudson-Odoi will want to play week in and week out, and on top of that Fulham is still a very good club to go to.”
