Callum Wilson: Pundit makes ‘big’ Newcastle United prediction after ‘brilliant’ development

Newcastle United could finish in the top six next season if they keep Callum Wilson fit for the duration, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Spurs and England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, heaped praise on the 30-year-old for his “brilliant” performance against Arsenal.

Wilson produced a man of the match display at St. James’ Park on Monday.

The striker had a hand in both goals as Eddie Howe’s side won 2-0 to all but end Arsenal’s hopes of finishing in the top four.

It was his first game start since recovering from a calf injury that ruled him out for four months.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on Wilson’s performance against the Gunners, Robinson said: “He was brilliant against Arsenal.

“He has been out for a long, long time this season. You can see the difference he makes to that side as soon as he comes back in.

“If they can keep him fit and get another alongside him and [Allan] Saint-Maximin they can have a real good go next season. I think the top six is possible. The manager will not say it is a target but it’s not out of the question.

“Whatever happens I’m sure Wilson is going to be a big part of Newcastle going forward. He has the quality. It’s just about keeping him fit.”
