Calum Ward is the latest goalkeeper to be linked to Celtic ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old has impressed so far this campaign at Motherwell as the club looks to seal European football over the next month.

According to Sky Sports reporter Christopher Reidy, the Hoops are one of many sides eyeing a summer move.

With Celtic struggling defensively, there are plenty of signs that show Ward can end this once and for all.

While many players have impressed for Motherwell this season, Ward has proven himself to be one of the best goalkeepers in the division.

The 25-year-old has kept 17 clean sheets in 33 Scottish Premiership matches this campaign, by far the most.

On top of this, according to Fotmob on 23 April, he has a 75.8 save percentage and has prevented 8.8 goals, with both stats again being the highest in the division.

On the ball, he has also impressed, averaging an 83.3 per cent passing accuracy.

As a result, it is obvious that the addition of the keeper will prevent needless goals from going in next season.

For context, Schmeichel had a goal prevention rate of -2.98, while Viljami Sinisalo’s is currently at -1.37 in the Scottish Premiership.

Therefore, if Ward continued his form at Celtic, the club could concede 13 fewer goals, which could help them earn several more points.

Football Insider exclusively revealed that Mathew Ryan is also a target for Celtic ahead of the summer.

The Australian international currently plays for Levante in La Liga.

As it stands, the former Brighton and Arsenal goalkeeper is out of contract in the summer, which could allow Celtic to secure an easy transfer.

A new goalkeeper is said to be one of the Hoops’ priorities in the summer, considering the issues they have had there this season.
