Calvin Ramsay told to quit Liverpool in coming days after twist – pundit
Alan Hutton has urged Calvin Ramsay to leave Liverpool on loan this month.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa right-back insisted Ramsay needs first team game time to continue his development.
The 19-year-old has made just two first team appearances for the Reds this season after joining in the summer and has been unable to oust Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.
According to TEAMtalk (23 January), Jurgen Klopp has ruled out a loan move for the defender and wants to keep him at Anfield.
Ramsay has been linked with loan moves to Swansea City and Watford in recent weeks.
But Klopp is keen to keep the youngster in his first-team plans for the second half of the season and feels that avenue is best for the players’ long-term development.
When asked if now is the right time for a loan move for the Scotland international, Hutton told Football Insider: “I would think so at his age.
“It is obviously going to be difficult for him to break through.
“You have got Trent who is still young, I know he has had his problems this season but he is still a wold class football player. Obviously [Joe] Gomez can play there as well.
“He needs to go out for experience. He had good experience at Aberdeen but that has been cut short now that he is down there and not playing in the first team.

“I think he needs to go out to play week in week out to improve. I think teams like Swansea, under Russell Martin, Watford who are trying to get back into the Premier League, these are all good teams that will play football to his strengths.
“So I think that would be a good move for him.”
