Campbell makes personal plea to Arteta and demands he’s given solutions to ‘awful’ Arsenal
Kevin Campbell is demanding answers from Mikel Arteta after an Arsenal season with far more negative aspects than positive.
The former Gunners striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, told Arteta to find solutions to his side’s problems.
Arsenal were dumped out of the Europa League last week as a toothless performance against Villarreal blew their chances of making the final.
The Gunners are now fighting for a top half finish in the Premier League with the prospect of securing European football for next season looking unlikely.
Arsenal have been blighted with injuries this year and struggled to maintain their brief runs of good form.
However, Campbell insists there are no excuses for Arsenal’s disappointing season.
“Look at the positives and negatives,” Campbell told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“There have been far more negatives than positives this season. Seeing how these young players have performed under Arteta has been a plus.
“Although we were awful, getting to a semi-final and one goal away from a final is a plus.
“We’ve been a club wallowing, drifting, without a purpose this season. Is that down to the players and injuries?
“There’s no excuses. The fans don’t want to hear excuses. I don’t want excuses. I want solutions.
“Give me solutions Mikel Arteta. If you’re going to be the manager, fix it.”
Arsenal returned to winning ways on Sunday as they defeated West Brom 3-1 at The Emirates.
The Gunners are next in action against Chelsea on Wednesday night.
