Campbell tells Arsenal to complete ‘top-quality’ signing after major Lacazette development reported
Arsenal must dip into the transfer market and replace Alexandre Lacazette with a “top-quality, younger” striker, according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Gunners striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted he “completely understands” 30-year-old’s latest contract snub.
According to the Athletic (30 December), Arsenal are monitoring Dusan Vlahovic, Alexander Isak, and Jonathan David as potential attacking targets.

As per L’Equipe (25 December), as relayed by the Mirror, (26 December), Lacazette has turned down a one-year contract extension at Arsenal with his current terms set to expire at the end of the season.
According to the report, the French striker wants a long-term deal elsewhere.
As such, Campbell suggested the 30-year-old should be replaced by a “top-quality” hitman.
“One thing I’ve learned about Lacazette is that it doesn’t matter whether he has six months or two years on his contract,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He plays the same way. He’s a great captain right now, but he’s always been an important figure who leads by example.
“He makes other players around him better, and we’re seeing it now with these youngsters.
“He’s the glue that keeps everything together, even if we’re not seeing him score as many goals as he would have perhaps liked.
“Arsenal are only willing to offer him a one-year deal. He’s looking for a bit more security than that. I completely understand if he decides to move on.
“For Arsenal’s sake, they’ll have to go into that market and bring in a top-quality younger striker.”

Arsenal also have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Eddie Nketiah as their striker options.
The Gunners sit fourth in the Premier League after 19 games.
