Campbell verdict on Celtic signing blizzard after Rangers latest

Kevin Campbell insists Celtic had no choice but to sign 12 new players after such a poor 2020-21 season.

The former Arsenal hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted as the Hoops added more new faces on deadline day.

Celtic signed 12 players this summer as Ange Postecoglou overhauled a squad that massively disappointed last season.

The Hoops have also started the season strongly and have secured a place in the group stage of the Europa League.

However, they lost last weekโ€™s Old Firm clash with Rangers despite dominating for large periods and missing several chances.

Campbell insists this massive change was needed at Parkhead after such a dominant 2020-21 from the Gers.

โ€œThey have brought Postecoglou in to straighten things up,โ€ Campbell told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs.

โ€œHe needed to change the fortunes because Rangers were so strong.

โ€œObviously they won the Old Firm by one goal but I think Celtic were alright. Rangers just know how to win now.

โ€œ12 players coming in, it will take a while for them to settle but they have to get going.

โ€œYou have the break now and they can use that but Celtic really need to get going now. They just couldnโ€™t take their chances last week.โ€

The Hoops added Cameron Carter-Vickers to their ranks on a season-long loan from Tottenham on deadline day.

He adds a much-needed versatile option to Postecoglouโ€™s squad as the defence continues so make some basic errors.
