Kevin Campbell “would love” Arsenal to capture Aston Villa talisman Jack Grealish this summer after the player’s agent opened the door on a summer exit.
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker fears Manchester City will win the race to the 25-year-old’s signature to create “an embarrassment of riches” at the Etihad.
Grealish has enjoyed a sensational campaign in 2020-21, with seven goals and 12 assists to his name in 24 appearances across all competitions.
His agent Jonathan Barnett confessed to SNTV that he was not sure where the playmaker’s future lay ahead of the summer transfer window.
Campbell heaped praise on the “world-class” England international who has made a “huge difference” to Dean Smith’s side this term.
“I would love Arsenal to make a move for Grealish but I don’t think the club could afford him at the moment,” he told Football Insider.
“He has proved to be a world-class player this season. He is very consistent with his performances and he is only young. What a huge difference he has made to Aston Villa this year.
“I think any one of the big boys would look at him. I wouldn’t put it past Manchester City to sign him, even though they have a wealth of attacking talent. I could see him there.
“Listen, that would be making the strong stronger. It could be an embarrassment of riches. You have to keep strengthening. If you don’t, you are standing still and others will catch you.”
