‘Can’t play for us again’ – Rangers fans incandescent with starter who ‘needs to be returned’ in January

Rangers supporters were left astounded by Nasser Djiga’s performance in their 1-1 draw with Braga on 27 November in the Europa League.

Rangers were left frustrated by the 10-men of Braga as they were still unable to get their first win in the Europa League this season.

Prior to the match, attention was on owner Andrew Cavenagh after he sacked both Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell from the Rangers board.

Yet, skirmishes off the pitch couldn’t take away from the disappointment on it, as Gers fans ripped into Djiga’s catastrophic display at the Ibrox.

Nasser Djiga’s error the decisive blow in preventing Rangers from claiming all three points

Since joining on loan from Wolves in the summer, Djiga has not had an easy career at Rangers under both Russell Martin and Danny Rohl.

The 23-year-old was infamously at fault during their 3-1 hammering by Club Brugge in Champions League qualifiers back in August.

His moments of catastrophe continued in Glasgow as the Burkinabe’s deflected header fell to Gabriel Martinez’s feet in the 69th minute, who converted the golden opportunity to equalise for Braga.

Then, moments after gifting the Portuguese visitors the goal, the number 24 missed a big chance to put Rangers back into the lead.

At the full-time whistle, Djiga was seen holding his hands up to the Teddy Bears crowd and touching his heart, clearly wanting to apologise for his errors.

His request for forgiveness fell on deaf ears as Gers supporters tore into the Wolves loanee, demanding that he be sent back to Molineux in January.

One fan said: “Pathetic from a lot of them mate. Djiga…can’t play for us again.” with another adding: “Djiga is horrendous and needs to go back in January.”
