Cardiff City fans roast Ollie Tanner as ‘awful’ stats emerge from defeat to Lincoln

Cardiff City fans are furious with Ollie Tanner after their 2-0 defeat to Lincoln City on Saturday.

The clash was a crucial top-of-the-table tie in League One, with the Bluebirds at the summit going into the game, with the Imps two points behind them.

However, goals from Rob Street and Dom Jefferies ensured that the visitors leapfrogged Cardiff to put them in pole position to win the title.

Many players for the Bluesbirds were poor, including Tanner, who has been subject to widespread criticism for his performance as Cardiff’s League One title ambitions suffered a blow.

Cardiff City fans labelled Ollie Tanner as ‘useless’ in Lincoln City defeat

Despite putting in some excellent performances this season, Tanner certainly had a poor game against Lincoln.

The 23-year-old’s inability to keep hold of the ball led to both of the visitors’ goals in two poor errors.

As a result, Cardiff have a massive task ahead if they want to reclaim the top spot, with Lincoln showing no signs of slowing down.

It is the first time the club have not topped the League One table since November as they tasted their first league defeat since September.

Therefore, with the Bluebirds surrendering three points to Lincoln in a crucial match, fans were quick to take to X to criticise Tanner for the part he played in the defeat.

How bad was Tanner vs Lincoln City?

According to Fotmob on 7 March, Tanner certainly had a poor game against Lincoln.

The winger only completed 69 per cent of his passes, had just one shot, created zero chances and was dispossessed twice.

On top of this, he only won 38 per cent of his ground duels and was dribbled past twice.

Therefore, it was no surprise that Brian Barry-Murphy pulled Tanner off after 76 minutes in what was a terrible showing.

Now, the task will be to ensure that the winger can bounce back as quickly as possible, as when he is on form, he is a massive asset for the club.

Next up, Cardiff City will travel to Barnsley on Tuesday, hoping to bounce back from their recent defeat. They will also be hopeful that Exeter City can pull off a shock result against Lincoln on the same day.
