Carl Starfelt granted permission to complete Celtic move and undergo medical – sources
Celtic star Carl Starfelt has agreed personal terms with Celta Vigo and is set to finalise a move in the next 24 hours, sources have told Football Insider.
The defender, 28, has been granted permission by the Hoops to leave Parkhead and complete a transfer to the Spanish outfit.
Brendan Rodgers has admitted that Starfelt could be leaving and a move is now at the advanced stage.
Celtic will continue talks with Celta Vigo on Sunday over the structure of payments as they look to secure a full agreement.
Starfelt will then undergo a medical and complete the paperwork on what will be a multi-million-pound transfer.
It is believed he has been pushing to leave Celtic behind the scenes in recent weeks.
The Sweden international made 37 appearances across all competitions for the Hoops last season, notching three goals and one assist.
However, he was omitted from the starting lineup for the first game of the 2023-24 campaign – coming off the bench to play 23 minutes in the 4-2 win over Ross County on Friday (4 August).
Starfelt joined Celtic from Rubin Kazan in 2021, signing a four-year deal which hasn’t been extended.
He has gone on to play 87 times across all competitions, notching five domestic trophies at Parkhead.

Celtic have moved to add a new centre-back this summer, signing 22-year-old Maik Nawrocki from Legia Warsaw – who started the win against Ross County.
Nawrocki is one of six new arrivals at Parkhead under new boss Brendan Rodgers.
