Carlos Corberan now major favourite for Leeds job amid Daniel Farke sack news
Daniel Farke appears on the brink of the sack at Leeds United, with several managers already in the race to replace the German.
Leeds have given Farke five games to save his job, with meetings against Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Brentford and Crystal Palace set to be key.
The Whites have slipped into the relegation zone after winning just one of their last seven Premier League fixtures, with decision-makers at Elland Road under pressure to avoid the drop.
Marcelo Bielsa is in the running to replace Farke should he be sacked, but the Argentine would likely want to take Uruguay to the World Cup before making any move.
Leeds fans turned on Farke after Sunday’s loss to Aston Villa, with the former Norwich City boss now facing a fight for his future.

Carlos Corberan enters race for Leeds United job
Carlos Corberan‘s return to Leeds has been rumoured throughout the five years that have passed since the Spaniard left Elland Road.
The former goalkeeper was appointed as the coach for Leeds’ Under-23 team in 2017, and was later promoted to first team coach following the arrival of Bielsa.
Huddersfield Town hired Corberan as their head coach in 2020, with the 42-year-old’s side finishing 20th in his first season.

The Terriers would miraculously soar to a third-place finish in the following Championship campaign, but missed out on promotion in the play-off final.
Corberan would leave Huddersfield Town following the season, enduring a dismal stint at Olympiacos before joining West Brom.
The Spaniard would keep the Baggies up and take them to within touching distance of promotion, but the play-offs would again frustrate Corberan.

This season, the former Leeds man’s Valencia sit 15th in La Liga, having won just three of their opening 13 fixtures.
With Corberan potentially facing the sack himself, the 42-year-old is the favourite for the Leeds job, according to one major bookmaker.
What Corberan said about Leeds
Corberan is remembered fondly at Elland Road, and the feeling is mutual.
Speaking in 2023 before West Brom were set to take on Leeds, the Spaniard said: “We have good moments because personally I spent two years with Marcelo Bielsa and there isn’t a price you can pay for this.
“From the targets point of view, we achieved two times the top six – the first year, unfortunately in the play-offs, we didn’t achieve it.
“The second year we achieved promotion to the Premier League. I have very good memories of my time there and it’s the first time I will be back at Elland Road.”
Corberan could now be set to return again, and in the home dugout this time.
