Carney Chukwuemeka backed to leave Aston Villa after key development

Carney Chukwuemeka should sign a new deal at Aston Villa before leaving the club on loan for the 2022-23 season.

That is according to Spurs insider and youth football expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Chukwuemeka,18, scored for England in the Under 19s Euros final (1 July) against Isreal as his side won 3-1.

Wenham had been watching the tournament to keep an eye on Tottenham starlets Alfie Devine and Dane Scarlett but was instead left impressed with Chukwuemeka.

The Villa starlet’s current deal expires in the summer of 2023 but Wenham insists he shouldn’t be considering a move this summer.

“My pick of the bunch is Carney Chukwuemeka,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He actually made his debut off the bench at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium a few years ago towards the back end of the season.

“He played for Villa in the FA Youth Cup that season so he was already on my radar.

“He only has a year left on his deal actually but to be honest, I would rather he was somewhere where he will play every single week.

“It’s pointless him going somewhere and not playing every week. It’s in his best interests to sign a new deal at Villa on the proviso that he gets a season-long loan.

“I think he is ready for the Championship, there is no need to drop him any lower than that.

He looks a really promising player.”

In other news, one pundit can’t believe Aston Villa could sign the ‘next Mason Mount’ after update.
