Casemiro ‘asking to be sent off’ as Man United footage re-analysed – pundit
Alan Hutton has suggested Casemiro was “unlucky” to be sent off for Man United against Crystal Palace on Saturday (4 February).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said that although it was a red card, Casemiro was unlucky to be the player singled out in the scuffle.
As shown on Sky Sports (4 February), the 30-year-old was shown a straight red card following a melee between both sets of players where the Man United midfielders put both of his hands around Will Hughes’ neck.
The Brazilian will miss the next three games if the ban is upheld.
When asked for his verdict on the sending off, Hutton told Football Insider: “As soon as you lift your hands and grab somebody by the neck, you are kind of asking to be sent off.
“You just can’t do it it is quite as simple as that. Was there much force or anything in it? Not really but it is just the intent is there. You should not really be lifting your hands at all so I understand why he was sent off.

“But, then again, there was so much going on in that situation that if they were to really look they would probably find something else.
“He is probably a little bit unlucky to be the one that was seen in the incident. But if you lift your hands like that you are going to get red carded.“
