Moussa Dembele could be set for his first senior international appearance in March as the Celtic man continues to impress France boss Didier Deschamps, according to a report.

The French World Cup winner was reported by the Glasgow Evening Times to have sent a scout to watch the 20-year-old in Celtic’s 6-0 domination of Inverness CT in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.

Dembele smashed a hat-trick in the rout and will have no doubt impressed the France national boss with his continued run of form which has seen him score two hat-tricks in as many games.

So far, the striker has made four appearances for the France Under-21 side and has scored four goals – two of which were against England in a 3-2 victory in November 2016.

Deschamps is reported to have sent a number of scouts to watch the Celtic striker who has scored 26 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions this season.

Dembele is yet to be called up to the senior France team but with Karim Benzema without a goal in six for Real Madrid and Olivier Giroud struggling to make the Arsenal starting 11, a place may be up for grabs.

France play two matches in March. The first against minnows Luxembourg in a 2018 World Cup qualifier, before a huge friendly clash against Spain.

Les Bleus have performed well in World Cup qualifying so far and are top of group A which includes tough nations like Sweden and the Netherlands.
