Celtic agree Daniel Kelly deal after breakthrough – sources

Celtic sensation Daniel Kelly has agreed a new contract following a breakthrough in talks, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that Kelly, 18, has settled terms on a four-year extension to his current Hoops deal and will earn a significant pay rise.

The deal is set to be signed off imminently and will be announced soon.

The midfielder has broken into the Celtic first team this season and bagged his first senior goal on his league debut in their 7-1 thrashing of Dundee last month (28 February).

Following impressive outings with Celtic’s B team in the Lowland Football League and displays with the under-19s in the UEFA Youth League this season, he was brought into the first-team fold by Brendan Rodgers.

He made his senior debut in the Hoops’ Scottish Cup fourth-round tie against Buckie Thistle in January.

Kelly has since been a regular on the bench and has made two consecutive substitute appearances in Celtic’s last two league games.

The Scotsman penned his first professional contract with the club in 2022 after joining aged eight.

He has received international recognition with Scotland’s under-19s and was recently called up for their fixtures for the upcoming international break this month.

The 2005-born star has played in defensive midfield, central midfield and attacking midfield and has bagged four goals in all competitions for the senior and youth sides this season.
