Sources: Another Eddie Howe twist as Brighton may join pursuit

Brighton may rival Celtic and Crystal Palace for Eddie Howe in the coming weeks, Football Insider has learned.

This site revealed on Monday (12th April) that Howe is on a three-man Palace shortlist along with Sean Dyche and Frank Lampard amid major doubts over Roy Hodgson’s future.

But the south Londoners are unlikely to be the only Premier League club keen on the former Bournemouth boss as the manager merry-go-round prepares to go into overdrive.

A Brighton source has told Football Insider that Graham Potter’s position is far from secure even if he steers them to Premier League safety for a second consecutive season.

Howe is on the radar of the Seagulls, where owner Tony Bloom surprised fans and neutrals two years ago when he sacked Chris Hughton immediately after keeping them up.

Potter edged closer to matching Hughton’s feat of avoiding relegation in successive top-flight campaigns with a hard-earned point in Monday’s goalless draw against Everton.

That lifted Brighton to 33 points and they are now seven points clear of 18th-placed Fulham.

But that does not mean Potter is safe in his position and the continued availability of Howe has alerted the south-coast outfit.

Celtic still hold out hopes of appointing Howe although their chances of doing so have diminished considerably over the last week.

The ex-Bournemouth boss reached a verbal agreement with Celtic following talks in London before having second thoughts.

At Palace, Howe and Dyche are believed to figure most prominently in the club’s thoughts ahead of the less experienced Lampard.
