‘Celtic at risk of Brendan Rodgers exit after latest news’

Brendan Rodgers could be keeping an eye on the Celtic Park exit doors due to his frustration over transfers again this summer.

The 52-year-old has managed to rebuild trust with the supporters since his return to Scotland two summers ago, having left those same fans heartbroken in February 2019.

Ultimately, his move to Leicester City ended in disappointment when his side were relegated from the Premier League in 2023, but not before the Foxes replaced him with Dean Smith in April.

Since his emotional reunion at Celtic Park, fans have slowly changed their minds around the Northern Irishman, and he has returned to being a much-loved figure in Glasgow.

However, that joy might be short-lived due to the Hoops’ current transfer model, with Mick Brown telling Football Insider that Rodgers could eye a Celtic exit should the board not back him this summer.

Brendan Rodgers faces transfer frustration at Celtic Park

However, that is unlikely to be the biggest issue concerning Rodgers at this moment in time, as his frustration over a lack of key transfers continues to plague his plans at Celtic Park.

The manager had already voiced his disappointment over the club’s lack of urgency to sign a star striker following Kyogo Furuhashi‘s £10million move to Rennes in January [Sky Sports].

He notched 86 goals and 15 assists during his four seasons in Scotland, with few of his teammates able to bring the same impact in the final third, other than Daizen Maeda, who has also been linked with an exit.

While the Hoops won the Scottish Premiership by an impressive 17 points last term, without further reinforcement in the attacking third, their Champions League journey came to a disappointing end.

Nicolas Kuhn allow Celtic exit this summer

Now, instead of making sure to back the manager in the summer transfer market, bringing in some much-needed reinforcement, the club appear to be allowing one of the most talented stars to leave.

According to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg (3 July), Nicolas Kuhn‘s move to Serie A side Como can be considered a done deal, with a £17.2million deal in place until 2029 and his medical to take place next week.

Football Insider understood that Celtic had placed a £20m price tag on Kuhn’s head, but with the club actually accepting a deal for the 26-year-old, Rodgers has every right to be fuming.

His ambitions are clear for everyone to see, wanting to take the Hoops on a European journey next season, but unless the board are willing to support him, his ambitions will remain dreams.

If that is the case, Rodgers could be forced to find a new club who are willing to support his plans and ideas, however ambitious they may be, but supporters will need to understand the position he’s being put in.

The board had a brilliant chance to make a statement with further signings in attack, even as a way of apologising for not replacing Furuhashi, but Rodgers is likely to be left in disappointment at Celtic Park.
