Celtic backed to complete Dominik Livakovic signing after deal agreed – expert
Celtic can match Fenerbahce’s bid for goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie said Joe Hart needs competition between the sticks.
The Celts were reportedly interested in Livakovic but Turkish side Fenerbahce have been closing in on a deal for the 28-year-old.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (16 July), a deal between Dinamo Zagreb and the Turkish outfit had been agreed for £7.7m.
But, Turkish journalist Ahmet Konanc reported last week (25 July) that the Hoops are still active in the race to sign the Croatia international.
When asked if the Celts are capable of hijacking a move for the shot-stopper, McAvennie told Football Insider: “That is what Celtic are, they can go and match Fenerbahce without any problems.
“I think he will be a lot better coming to Celtic than going to Turkey. I would say we are a better club for anyone of that stature.
“He was different class in the World Cup. It would be a great thing for him and Joe Hart to have a fight.
“It would be wonderful for the football club, I do not think [Scott] Bain or [Benjamin] Siegrist can challenge Joe Hart.

“From what we have seen in pre-season there have been a lot of mistakes from the keeper. Brendan [Rodgers] is a perfectionist so he will want rid of the mistakes at the back.
“If he can get Livakovic it would be great.“
