Celtic backed to recieve ‘massive’ fee for Josip Juranovic after source’s update – pundit

Celtic will have no problem selling Josip Juranovic for more than £5million during the January transfer window.

That’s according to former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the defender’s future.

On 30 November, sources told Football Insider that Celtic are confident of agreeing a £5million-plus January deal for Juranovic as the club face losing their star defender, just 18 months after he joined following the collapse of contract extension talks.

The Parkhead outfit have tried to extend his deal but negotiations failed to result in an agreement and the club have given the green light for him to leave if they receive a bid that matches their valuation.

Whelan insists Celtic will receive top-dollar for Juranovic.

“Celtic have always been brilliant at getting top money for their players,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“If Juranovic doesn’t want to be there then he needs to go but he needs to go on Celtic’s terms. The club have all of the power here though I am sure they will want him gone if he doesn’t want to be there.

“I’m sure there will be a few clubs in for him so that will help to massively blow up the price. What you really want there is a bidding war.

“Celtic will get what they want, I’m sure of that. They have done this before and they know how to extract every last pound for a player who doesn’t want to be there.

“It sounds like he is definitely going, which is a shame because I do rate him.

Let’s see where he ends up and let’s see just how much Celtic can get for him.
