Celtic blow Premier League clubs out of the water after stunning twist – sources
Celtic have blown English Premier League sides out of the water after being crowned the best-run club in Britain, sources have told Football Insider.
The Fair Game Index has exclusively revealed its latest report to Football Insider, where it ranked the Scottish giants at the top of the pile after assessing clubs on their financial sustainability, governance, equality and ethical standards, and fan and community engagement.
The study, which assessed the best-run teams in England and Scotland, provided each club with a rating out of 100 based on the aforementioned areas.
Celtic were handed an 80.6 rating, placing them well above English Premier League side Tottenham, who came in second with a score of 68.2.
The Glasgow outfit were joined in the top 10 by fellow Scottish Premiership clubs Hearts, Hibernian, Aberdeen, St Mirren, Motherwell and Kilmarnock, while Rangers ranked 13th overall with a 59.3 rating.
Fair Game Index CEO Niall Couper said Scottish football can learn from the “mistakes” that have been made in England after his company’s report suggested the game is “generally better run north of the border”.
Celtic to make substantial profit from Champions League campaign
Celtic have been a well-oiled machine on and off the pitch over the past few years.
The Scottish champions’ latest accounts showed the club generated a total revenue of £119million in 2022-23, while they recorded a £40million profit.
Football Insider revealed in March Celtic earned £46million in commercial revenue in 2023, ensuring they comfortably exceeded their projected figures.
Brendan Rodgers’s side also managed to secure a domestic double on the pitch last season after beating Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish Cup.

Celtic’s league title success ensures they will be playing in the Champions League this season, while their Old Firm rivals’ qualification defeat to Dynamo Kyiv means they have to settle for a place in the Europa League.
Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider Celtic are in line to earn a £30million windfall after securing their place in the competition, while they will also benefit financially from Rangers failing to reach the group stage.
