Karamako Dembele: Postecoglou has made his mind up about Celtic starlet’s future – McLeish
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou may have already decided that Karamako Dembele is not on his plans.
That is the view of former Scotland manager Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 19-year-old’s future at Parkhead.
Dembele’s six-minute substitute outing in the Hoops’ 2-0 win over St Mirren on Wednesday (2 March) was his first senior football this term.
The winger, who was sidelined for months at the start of the campaign with a fractured ankle, is out of contract in May.
When asked about Dembele in his media conference on Tuesday (1 March), Postecoglou said “I am going to invest time into people who want to stay.”
McLeish claims that the Australian manager may have decided that the youngster does not feature in his plans going forward.
“I get the feeling with Postecoglou that he isn’t going to fire in the young ones and that means Dembele is not part of his plans,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“He is focusing on the guys that he has invested in and put some thought into.
“He already knows his strategy for Celtic. When he knows what he can get out of people, these are the guys that he tends to play.
“That is just something I’ve noticed from observing him over a few months.”

Dembele has made nine appearances in Celtic colours since his debut in 2019.
The victory over St Mirren reinforced Postecoglou’s side’s three-point lead at the summit of the Scottish Premiership.
