Pundit amazed by ‘incredible’ Postecoglou after Robertson confirms Celtic meeting

Ange Postecoglou demonstrated “incredible” man-management when he told Celtic youngsters that they can play a big part in his plans.

So says ex-Premier League hitman Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Scott Robertson’s recent interview comments.

The midfielder and Celtic academy graduate, 20, is currently out on loan with Crewe Alexandra in League One.

But he told the Daily Record on 7 September how the new boss had encouraged the Hoops’ youth stars soon after his arrival at Parkhead.

“He told us all that no matter what your age is, if you are good enough then you will play for him,” Roberson revealed.

And Campbell is impressed by the fact that Postecoglou made a point of reassuring the club’s crop of youth stars.

He told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs: “Incredible. That is what any young player wants you to hear.

“It gives you the impetus to challenge him on it. If you keep doing the business, then you’ll see.

“If you’re training well and you’re still not playing, you know he’s lying to you then you know you can’t trust him.

“But for a manager to come out and say that to a young player, there’s a big opportunity to play for Celtic, which is amazing.”

The likes of Dane Murray and Adam Montgomery, 18 and 19 respectively, have been consistently named among the substitutes for Celtic in 2021-22.

Robertson himself was also in the matchday squad for four out of five of the Hoops’ European qualification games.
