Confirmed: Celtic to make crucial transfer decision over ‘most gifted’ attacker in summer

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that the club are set to make a decision on the future of on-loan striker Odsonne Edouard at the end of the season.

The 20-year-old Frenchman, who is on-loan at the Hoops from French giants PSG, has shown glimpses of his talent in his spell with the Hoops.

He has scored nine goals including the winning goal in the memorable 3-2 win at Ibrox, and Rodgers has disclosed that he is set to discuss Edouard with the player’s representatives at the end of the season.

“I’ve said from day dot that I see the player every day and he’s one of the most gifted players I’ve worked with,” Rodgers said, as quoted by the Evening Times.

“He’s settled in well and if we have any chance to do something at the end of the season then we can look at that.”

The Hoops are currently on the international break, but when they return Edouard is set to be a key figure in the side as the Hoops aim to win an unprecedented second domestic treble in a row.

The Hoops boss doesn’t sound exactly 100% confident that he will be able to persuade Edouard, or more likely the player’s representatives that he should extend his stay in Glagsow. “If we have any chance to do something” is not a promising turn of phrase, although perhaps the Hoops boss is just playing his cards close to his chest. Another few years for the youngster with the Hoops would be best for all involved – as long as the price is right. There is also the chance that if Moussa Dembele departs in the summer that Edouard could be in line for far more game time – and money – from the Hoops if he replaces his fellow Frenchman as the main striker. It is set to be a very interesting summer for the Hoops, and the future of Edouard is likely to be one of the biggest stories.
