Celtic could ‘sell off’ top stars after Jota transfer confession – pundit
Alan Hutton has suggested Celtic may have to “sell off” their top stars should they fail to qualify for the Champions League.
The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted Premiership glory would be “huge” for the Bhoys’ transfer plans.
As quoted by the Daily Record on Saturday (12 March), Postecoglou confessed Champions League qualification would help Celtic convince loan stars Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota to sign permanently at Parkhead this summer.

However, he insisted he would “never deny them” the chance to “get more money down south”.
American football news site SBI Soccer (7 March) claim Leicester City and Wolves have both shown interest in Carter-Vickers.
As such, Hutton admitted Postecoglou was “spot on” with his assessment of Celtic needing Champions League football.
“I think he’s right, I think he’s spot on,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“You even look at likes of the breakthrough season Juranovic has had. He’s been a standout. With Carter-Vickers, there’s always going to be Premier League teams sniffing about the top players in the Scottish Premiership.
“This is such a huge time to win the league because you’ve got plan A and plan B. If you’ve got the finances and the money, you’ve got the draw of the Champions League, then these players want to be part of that.
“If that doesn’t happen and you have to start selling off your best assets and things like that to bring in money, then it’s going to be difficult for whoever doesn’t win the league.”

Carter-Vickers, on loan from Tottenham, has played 36 times for Celtic this season.
Meanwhile, Benfica loanee Jota has made 31 appearances for the Bhoys.
