Celtic ‘doing everything they can’ to agree Owen Beck deal – sources

Celtic are “doing everything they can” to get a deal done for Liverpool left-back Owen Beck, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Beck, 22, is Celtic’s number one target, but a deal for the defender isn’t “cut and dry”.

Football Insider revealed (August 17) that Celtic want to sign Liverpool left-back Owen Beck permanently, but face stiff competition from several Championship clubs.

Liverpool has yet to decide whether to cash in on Beck but may be more inclined to sell the Welshman if a buyback clause is added to the deal.

Celtic desperate to sign left-back Owen Beck

Celtic are in the market for a new left-back to help provide competition for Greg Taylor who remains their only senior option in the position.

Beck is an attacking left-back with strong crossing and dribbling abilities—he provided four assists and made 57 successful crosses in 28 appearances during his loan spell at Dundee FC last season.

Liverpool have set an asking price of £3 million for the player who has only made three senior appearances for his boyhood club.

Beck is regarded as a player with huge potential by Celtic and would help lessen the burden on Taylor or provide cover should he be injured or suspended.
