Celtic expected to sign Christopher Jullien replacement after journalist’s update – McAvennie
Frank McAvennie has backed Celtic in their decision to try and offload Christopher Jullien.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker suggested Ange Postecoglou will try to sign a replacement who fits his system better.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed (29 June) that the Jullien, 29, has been in talks with Schalke over a potential loan move.

However, Romano provided an update (30 June) that personal terms could not be agreed between Jullien and the German club.
The Frenchman only has a year left on his contract with the Glasgow club.
When asked if he thought it was positive that Postecoglou was attempting to offload players that don’t fit his style of play, McAvennie told Football Insider: “Yes, of course it is.
“The manager has come in with this interpretation of football that, initially, nobody understood, but everyone loves it now.
“I was critical of it, I just didn’t know about it – two fullbacks playing in midfield, couldn’t get my head round it. But he knows what he wants.
“Letting Jullien go, he’s not been playing, even when he could’ve been on the bench he was in the stands, he’s a bit removed from the first team so I don’t have a problem with him going.
“I think the manager will bring another centre-half in to replace him.”

Jullien has made 62 appearances for Celtic across all competitions since his arrival in 2019.
He has scored 10 goals and provided four assists in that time.
