Celtic expert ‘baffled’ by the SFA after confirmed news – ‘they’ve completely screwed it up’

Frank McAvennie can’t believe that Celtic and Rangers are both playing on the same day in their first round of post-split fixtures.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said the SFA have “completely screwed up” the scheduling for the final games of the season.

As confirmed by the SFA (25 April), the Celts’ will travel to Tynecastle on Sunday (7 May) and kick off 45 minutes before the Gers get underway against Aberdeen at Ibrox.

A win for Celtic next weekend would see them clinch the league title for the second time under Ange Postecoglou.

If the Hoops lose at Hearts, their next chance to win the league will be the following weekend at Ibrox, where there will be no away fans in the stadium.

McAvennie couldn’t believe the fixture schedule.

I think it is an absolute farce,” he told Football Insider.

The SFA in their ultimate wisdom have completely screwed it up. I cannot believe that Celtic and Rangers are playing on the same day.

The Celtic supporters are going to come back from Edinburgh, Aberdeen supporters have got to go to the station to get home, Rangers supporters will be in the City Centre, do the police not think anything is going to happen?

Celtic

It just beggars belief that they think everyone is just going to go home.

Celtic will be celebrating if they beat Hearts, Rangers won’t want them to celebrate and Aberdeen will get caught in the middle. I do not know why they could not have put Rangers or Celtic on the Saturday.
