Celtic expert has new Scottish Cup worry after what he’s seen – ‘I hope I’m wrong’

Frank McAvennie is worried Celtic have “switched off” in the lead up to the Scottish Cup final next weekend (3 June).

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker insisted Scottish Cup final opponents Inverness Caledonian Thistle will be looking to capitalise on the Glasgow club’s poor defensive line in recent games.

Although Ange Postecoglou’s side ended the season on a high with a 5-0 victory over Aberdeen in their final game of the season, the Scottish Champions conceded nine goals in their previous three games and collected just one point.

A 3-0 defeat to Rangers the week after they clinched the Premiership title at Tynecastle was followed by a 2-2 draw with St Mirren and a 4-2 defeat to Hibernian.

The Hoops take on Inverness at Hampden next weekend (3 June) where Postecoglou’s men will look to complete a historic eighth domestic treble.

“Inverness will have watched Celtic the last couple of weeks and will have a plan,” he told Football Insider.

I think the plan will just be to launch it up the park because we can’t deal with high balls coming in

Celtic

I just do not think you can switch off in the lead up to a cup final, I do not think you can do that. I seriously hope I am wrong.

I know the season is finished and it has been hard for the players but the bottom line is that they have just not been good enough.
