Celtic expert issues ‘big’ Josip Juranovic claim after new development

Frank McAvennie has claimed Alistair Johnston is “the way forward” for Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said Josip Juranovic has been a “big” player for the Glasgow giants but he will be the one to leave the club.

According to the Sun (16 December), Jose Mourinho’s Roma have joined the list of admirers for Juranovic after his impressive third place World Cup finish with Croatia.

As quoted by the report, Ange Postecoglou said it is “great” the 27-year-old is getting noticed adding that he wants people “talking about” the club.

But, Postecoglou said he is not thinking about Juranovic’s transfer situation.

The Croatian was absent for the Celts’ 1-0 win over Aberdeen on Saturday (17 December) but is expected back at Parkhead before the trip to Hibernian on 28 December.

On 3 December the Green and Whites confirmed the signing of Alistair Johnston from CF Montreal on a five-year deal to provide another option at right-back as they prepare for Juranovic to leave.

McAvennie is not worried about losing Juranovic.

He has had a wonderful World Cup and if anyone goes it will be him,” he told Football Insider.

Celtic

The Celtic fans do not want anyone to go, he is a big player. I have always said he was a wonderful talent. They have brought Johnston in and I think that will be the way forward.

Celtic are a selling club, people do not like it but every club in Scotland is a selling club.
