Celtic expert: Something is ‘seriously wrong’ with Yosuke Ideguchi after latest
Frank McAvennie has claimed there is “something seriously wrong” with Yosuke Ideguchi at Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker is hopeful Ideguchi will have the chance to show fans what he is capable of.
The 26-year-old joined Parkhead in January alongside Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda but has only made six appearances for a total of 134 minutes since his arrival.
According to the Sun (8 December), several J-League clubs are monitoring the midfielder’s situation and he could quit as early as next month.
After an injury plagued start to his career, Ideguchi has fallen way down the pecking order with the Green and Whites.
The likes of Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley, Aaron Mooy and David Turnbull are all ahead of the Japanese player.
He was not included in the squad for the 4-1 win over St Johnstone on Saturday (24 December).
McAvennie feels for the centre-mid’s struggles since his arrival.
“They have not been able to get him to play,” he told Football Insider.
“It must be so hard for him. To come to a different country and a different culture.

“Luckily he has got a few different players beside him, to keep his spirits up but it must be hard for him.
“There must be something seriously wrong there and I am just hoping he gets the chance to show the fans what he can do. He was supposed to be the best of them all.“
