Celtic fans go berserk over ’embarrassing’ Julian Araujo update

Celtic supporters are currently far from happy with how the 2025-26 campaign has gone to date.

The Hoops have had a dramatic fall-off this season, with both Brendan Rodgers and Wilfried Nancy leaving their posts at Celtic after a set of poor results.

With the Old Firm side second, six points off Hearts at the summit, signings are no doubt needed if they are to catch the Edinburgh side.

Yet, with just weeks to go in the January window, the Hoops have only brought in Julian Araujo, while their title rivals have continued to strengthen.

Now, Celtic’s latest post has sent some fans over the edge, as the wait for further signs goes on.

Celtic fans fume at post about Julian Araujo

Celtic are in desperate need of a striker if they are to stand any chance of catching Hearts.

Recently, Celtic have been linked with Callum Wilson, but Martin O’Neill has since confirmed this is not happening.

With time running out for signings to be made, fans are eagerly awaiting Celtic to post an update on their socials about a new incoming.

Yet, on Friday, supporters were greeted with a clip of Araujo discussing his first impressions of Celtic Park, in which he states his favourite colour is green.

As a result, fans were furious and accused the Old Firm club of trolling supporters as they await new additions.

Many also used the post to request a new striker as fans’ concerns grow further.

What has Martin O’Neill said about potential new signings?

For Celtic, it is vital that they bring in further recruits as quickly as possible.

Before the transfer window ends, the Hoops travel to Tynecastle to take on Hearts in what could prove to be a title decider come the end of the season.

As a result, O’Neill understands how important it is for signings to be made quickly.

Ahead of their Scottish Cup clash against Auchinleck on Sunday, the manager told BBC Sport on 16 January that he hopes that new recruits are brought in before their clash with the Jam Tarts as he believes they are closer to making further additions.

“Remarkably, I think we are,” he said. “We’re definitely a bit closer. I dread these interviews, I really do. I just like the natter, it’s good fun but I dread the questions coming up. Please, I can’t wait until 2 or 3 February, it might change the narrative.

“I understand, I absolutely totally get it.

“It’s essential, it’s absolutely essential [to recruit]. I think we know that anyway. We can’t change the squad around for the Bologna game [on Thursday].

“I’d like to have some people in for Hearts if it were at all possible. I can’t think that there [would be signings this weekend] but I’d be hoping by some stage next week that we’d have people.”
