Celtic fans rage as latest footage of Yang Hyun-Jun controversy analysed – ‘scandal’

Celtic fans on social media are outraged that winger Yang Hyun-Jun saw red for a controversial challenge during the 2-0 defeat to Hearts on Sunday afternoon (3 March).

Brendan Rodgers’ side failed to capitalise on a golden opportunity to go top of the Scottish Premiership this weekend.

Rangers slipped up with a 2-1 loss to Motherwell at Ibrox on Saturday, but for the first time since 2018 both Glasgow giants tasted defeat on the same weekend.

Celtic started brightly at Tynecastle and were awarded a penalty early on but January loan signing Adam Idah saw his effort from the spot saved.

Just two minutes later, referee Don Robertson was called into action again and summoned to the VAR monitor to look at Yang’s high-footed challenge.

The 21-year-old was sent off despite not appearing to make contact with his raised leg.

Hearts were then awarded a penalty late into the first half which was converted by Jorge Grant and they doubled their lead after the break through Lawrence Shankland.

The defeat means Celtic remain two points behind Rangers in the league table.

Celtic fans on social media slammed the “shocking” decision.

Next up for Celtic is a Scottish Cup quarter-final clash against Livingston before their title challenge continues with a visit from St Johnstone.
