Celtic fans react on Twitter to Nesbitt display v Rangers

By Harvey Byrne

Celtic loanee Aidan Nesbitt played the full 90 minutes in Greenock Morton’s defeat against Rangers – but Hoops fans on Twitter were disappointed with his display.

The 20-year-old attacker made the temporary move to the Scottish Championship outfit in August and saw the loan extended until the end of the season in January.

The attacking midfielder has returned with three goals and three assists in 27 appearances in all competitions for Morton.

However, he failed to add to that tally against Celtic’s fierce rivals on Sunday afternoon and he missed a sitter for his side at Ibrox with the scoreline still at 1-1.

Rangers eventually ran out 2-1 victors and although Celtic fans on social media were happy with Nesbitt’s workrate, many supporters picked up on his missed chance.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Nesbitt is a product of the Celtic academy and has made one appearance for the senior team, coming in a League Cup clash with Raith Rovers in 2015.

He won the academy player of the year award in 2016 and has also enjoyed a loan spell with Partick Thistle where he played seven times in all competitions.

In other Celtic news, Brendan Rodgers has made a bold claim about the Hoops’ ambitions.
