‘Atrocious’ – Celtic fans tear into one player after win against Aberdeen
By Danny Wright
Celtic fans on Twitter have torn into goalkeeper Craig Gordon for his performance in the 3-0 win against Aberdeen at Pittodire on Wednesday night.
Although Gordon, 34, kept a clean sheet against Derek McInnes’ side, many fans took issue with the goalkeeper’s distribution from the penalty area, with him putting his team-mates under pressure with his poor passing for most of the game.
Brendan Rodgers’ side moved three points clear of Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership table thanks to their win at the flood-lit Pittodrie.
Kieran Tierney and Moussa Dembele, who scored twice, were on the scoresheet as suggestions that the Hoops would suffer from fatigue were rubbished in one of their best displays of the season.
However fans still seemed to find a negative in the display and heap criticism on Gordon for his performance, with one saying his passing was “atrocious”.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
Gordon has made 22 appearances across all competitions for Celtic this season with the only game missing being against Dundee earlier this month when Dorus De Vries was given a shot between the sticks.
Ex-Sunderland stopper Gordon has kept 13 clean sheets in his mass of game-time for such an early stage of the season, conceding just 19 goals in the process, with the bulk of them coming against Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
In other Celtic news, the Hoops have jetted out on a mission to gear up their pursuit of this goalscoring defender who was valued at £17million less than 12 months ago.
